Biography
Gabriel Chouvet (born 2006) trained in composition at the Conservatoire de Montbéliard at the age of fourteen.
He writes mainly mixed works, in which the performer's gesture transforms sound in real time. Computing and artificial intelligence are less a subject than a tool: to extend the instrument rather than replace it.
His installation Sainte Agathe was presented at the Alba International Festival in 2024. In 2025, the Conservatoire de Montbéliard hosted a concert bringing together Esquisse pour cor et électronique and Pris dans l'étouffement du monde. In 2026, with harpsichordist Gabriel Lombard, he conceived the concert Résonances, given at La Corniche en Scène.
Since 2024 he has been an apprentice to the composer Jacopo Baboni Schilingi, following him on creative and research projects across Europe: at the Imperial Forums of Rome (2024), at the Kunsthalle München for the Miguel Chevalier retrospective (2025), and at MAD – Murate Art District in Florence (2025). In May 2026 he is in residence at the Institut français in Florence to capture the rose window of Santa Maria Novella, intended for the Digital Church installation cycle and supported by the Consul General of France.
